Make up work policy:
When your child is absent, I will send home the make up work with your child the day that they return to school. Their make up work will contain a page that lists the assigments that your child needs to make up from their absence. Generally, I allow one day for each day the child is absent for the work to be completed and returned to school. For example, if your child is absent 2 days then they will have 2 days after returning to school to complete and return the work to me. However, if your child is gone several days in a row I will allow your child a full week to return the work to school.
make up tests:
make-up reading, spelling, and math tests will be given the day your child returns to school (usually during their recess time). Your child is allowed to "skip" 1 spelling test for each 9 weeks. If they have missed more than 1 spelling test during a 9 week period , the spelling test will be given the day they return to school after an absence. If your child is absent for several days in a row, the tests that they missed will be given the follwing Monday after their absense so they are able to catch up on the skills they have missed out on.
Behavior Management Plan Ellie Macy
Displayed in the classroom is a colored chart with a clip for each student. Each day, the student will start with his or her clip on green. If I see a student doing something great, I will ask him or her to move his or her clip up to the higher color. If I see a student not demonstrating good behavior, they will be asked to move their clip down to a lower color. Clips can move up and down throughout the day. The colors are as follows:
*I reserve the right to make changes to consequences based on severity of the behavior.
* Each day your child will bring home their BLUE behavior folder. This folder will have a calendar for the month. Your child will color the day according to the LAST color their clip is on for the day. Please sign on the date so that I know that you have seen it daily.
*All consequences will be dealt with in a respectful manner for the child involved. I want every child in my classroom to feel that we have a safe, happy environment for learning.
Whole group: 1 marble in the marble jar every time the whole class has good behavior (walking in the hallway quietly, getting a compliment from another teacher, sparkly clean room). When the jar is full, the class will receive a reward.
Table groups: Each group has a BRAVO behavior card on the board. Every time the table gets caught having “bravo behavior”, the group can shade in one box. If the group shard in 3 boxes in a row, they all win a prize.
Individual: it’s important for the students that are always doing the right thing and to encourage others. At the end of each day they will receive a ticket or tickets based on their behavior for the day. PINK= 4, PURPLE= 3, BLUE= 2, GREEN= 1. However, if a student clips down to yellow, orange, or red, they may have to owe me tickets at the end of each day. YELLOW= no ticket but do not owe me anything. ORANGE= OWE TEACHER 1 TICKET. RED= OWE TEACHER 2 TICKETS. I will hold on to their tickets and every 2 weeks we will count our tickets and students will be able to purchase something from different levels of prizes. I have a basket for 25 tickets, 50 tickets, 75 tickets, and 100 tickets. Of course, the more tickets, the better the prizes.
