Maddie Payne

Maddie Payne is in her 5th year at CDS and in the Goddard District. Maddie chose to work in education because of her love for learning and forming relationships with present and past students. Mrs. Payne looked up to her great grandma growing up. After immigrating from Mexico, Maddie’s great grandma raised her siblings and then went on to raise five children of her own. Mrs. Payne looks up to her great grandma because she taught her how to persevere with kindness and grit. Maddie’s favorite sports teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals.


Karen Bolton

Karen Bolton has been an occupational therapist for 50 years. This includes 12 years at CDS and 14 years in the Goddard School District. Mrs. Bolton chose education “because interacting with kids challenges me to be creative.” The person Karen looked up to growing up was her father because “He was kind and well respected by many.” Mrs. Bolton says her favorite thing is laughing and one of her favorite quotes is from one of her favorite women, Frieda Kahlo: "Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and abandon oneself, to be light".


Janell Newsom

Janell Newsom is in her 2nd year at CDS as a para. Before becoming a para at CDS, Janell owned and operated her own daycare out of her house. Mrs. Newsom loves seeing the enthusiasm and happiness of students as they achieve their goals. Janell looked up to her mom. She says “My mom was extremely outgoing. She cared for others, especially kids, and loved teaching other people.” Mrs. Newsom loves to swim. She loves swimming in the ocean and has even swam with sharks.
