Lauren Derby Lunch Paraprofessional

This is my second year working in the lunchroom. It has been so fun getting to know the students here at Clark Davidson. I love talking to them, hearing their stories and jokes. Over the years, I have also worked in early childhood development and was an assistant coach for high school track and field. I am blessed to have many positive influences in my life growing up, but the person who had the greatest influence on me was my mother. She taught me to be kind, that my words have power – to use it wisely, and that life is better when you look for the positive. By working in education, my goal is to bring some of that light and happiness to the youth around me. I aspire to encourage and empower our students and to hopefully teach them some life lessons along the way. One of my favorite ways to relax is camping with my family. Whether exploring somewhere new or revisiting a favorite haunt, I love traveling with just the four of us: hiking, swimming, kayaking, cooking delicious food, or relaxing around our campfire.

Carly Brasser 3rd Grade Teacher

This is my first full year in education, but this is my second year at CDS which includes my student teaching semester. Ever since I was able to have a job, I have worked with kids whether in a daycare, at a school, or watching kids during breaks and summers. I decided to go into teaching because watching students grow educationally and seeing them discover who they are and where they want to go in life is so rewarding. I love being able to witness them discover their true selves! When I was growing up, I always looked up to my grandma and still continue to do so. She has so much love in her heart for each and every person she meets, but she also looks at people as who they are on the inside rather than on the outside. To this day, I love spending time with my grandma whenever I get the chance! My favorite college sports team is the Kansas State Wildcats. KSU is my Alma Mater, and you can find me in Manhattan on the weekends cheering on the cats in the fall!

Hannah Gabel Music Teacher

This is my second year at CDS and my 7th year in education. I've wanted to be a teacher my entire life. My mom also taught elementary music and it always felt very natural to me. I decided on music when I was in middle school but didn't decide on elementary until part way through my student teaching. I just love the wide range of ages and how much I can incorporate play into my concept lessons. Growing up, I looked up to my mom, my middle school orchestra teacher Mr. Detrick, and my high school orchestra teacher, Mr. Ferguson. My favorite instrument is the cello. I'm a violinist but nothing beats the sound of the cello.
